Ft. Hood and Gun Rights.

When are we going to learn that the bad guys, the criminals of this world, do not care what the law says.  This incident at Ft. Hood took place in an area of the base where guns were not allowed to be carried, unless you were military police or other qualified personnel.  Had everyone been carrying a weapon, then this guy would not have killed so many.  Lives could have been saved.  Gun free zones are killing zones.  Would anyone put a sign in front of their house saying something like, "This is a gun-free zone, we have no guns in this house!"  Isn't that just an invitation to the villians to target your house?  If I want to rob a home, rape someone or attack someone, I would prefer to target the unarmed.  This is how criminals think.  The pick their targets where they can be the most effective.  What better place to target than those people you know can do the least to protect themselves.  The right to own a gun isn't about having the ability to own a gun that I can hang on the wall like a piece of art.  Gun rights is about the ability to protect ourselves from the evil in this world.  Just because I own a firearm doesn't mean I am qualified to enforce the law.  That's not what it is about.  If I am a concealed carry license holder and I'm in a store that is being robbed.  It is not my duty to enforce the law concerning robbery.  If no one is being hurt or threatened, it is wiser to stay out of it.  The only time I would draw my weapon is if someone is threatening my life or the life of someone else.  Just like owning a fire extinguisher doesn't make you a fireman, owning a gun doesn't make me a law enforcer.  Gun owners are for the most part, law abiding citizens who use guns for sport, recreation and mostly self protection.

Health Care Reform

The best thing that our government can do to reform health care is to get out of what they are presently doing in health care. End medicare and medicaid. End CHIPS. End government regulation of healthcare. Let the free market take over. Free the doctors of endless government paper work that requires that they hire too many people just to take care of the paper work. Government creates more paperwork which requires more workers which in turn help to drive up costs. Take government out and watch the cost dramatically drop. What about the indigent you say? Most of our country's history existed without government healthcare and even without insurance. These things are new. Charity's played a far bigger role in taking care of those who cannot take care of themselves and they policed it better than government does. Government is constantly being scammed into paying for health care needs for people who don't need it. Doctors who skim off the top in order to get bigger government checks for compensation. Charities watch their money closely and make sure that the truly indigent are the ones that get help. Doctors are human beings and many of them used to take care of people and if they couldn't pay, they either didn't charge them at all or let them pay them back over time without interest or took a substantial discount. Why? Compassion. Human beings are compassionate people. People will take care of each other. Will there be scammers out there if government isn't involved? Yes. You have them now and you will have them then, but I believe you will have less because people tend to police where their money goes much better than government does. I would rather see the government do nothing than do anything that would promote more government involvement in our lives. Obama is the scariest president I have seen in my life time. Isn't it odd how every new president is worse than the last one? I was scared of Clinton when he got elected but I would take him over Obama any day. I just wish government would get out of my life and give me back my money that I worked for. It is mine not theirs. I pay taxes because I fear the consequences if I don't. I don't like it and I see government as a villain that comes to take my money year after year. Oh you, say, "Well, if you don't pay taxes, how would we pay for the construction of new highways and police and fire?" Well, it is funny to me that this country existed for almost 150 years without a permanent income tax and we did fine. Private industry will take care of roads and bridges. Just look at Disney World in Florida. They have some of the best kept and maintained roads and bridges in the state and it is paid for by them and those that patronize their business. There are solutions to all these problems. If we can be left alone and let free markets take over you may be surprised to the solutions that can be found. Enough ranting for now.

Take a moment today and remember those who died and were wounded at Ft. Hood yesterday.
These families need our love and prayers.

Audit the Fed Now!

I believe that Ron Paul's push to audit the Federal Reserve should be approved by congress in its original form. This is the most important issue facing congress and it is getting no press to speak of. Why should the Federal Reserve be exempt? Even the CIA gets more scrutiny than the Federal Reserve! I hope and pray that HR 1207 and S 604 will pass and for the first time since 1917 the books of the Federal Reserve will be opened and the truth will be revealed. Then the American people will see for themselves what a bad idea a central bank is. This is just the beginning though, we have to get this through first, but then we need to push for an end to the Federal Reserve. We need to move to a truly free market society. Some today will try to say that a free market economy doesn't work, but the truth is that government gets in the way far too often and doesn't allow for free markets to thrive in the way they could if the ties that bind it would be cut. Audit the Fed now! Free the market now! The best government is the least government and the only thing better than that is no government.
